Avenida 31 is an expeditious highway that, through the tunnel under the Almendares River, connects Miramar with different zones of Havana such as El Vedado, el Malecón, and the Historic Center of Old Havana. Among the main buildings in this area stands the Clock Tower on Fifth Avenue, just in the crossing with Calle 10 Built in the mid-twentieth century as a private residence for a wealthy family, today the Hotel Don Julio excels in the context for its sober but distinguished appearance. Its architecture is eclectic and it highlights neocolonial exterior elements such as tiled roofs, the arches at the main door and the large windows of French blinds, embellished by natural tones of wood.

The visitor is welcomed by a modest lobby with French-inspired furniture, lamps and decorated bronze and crystal sconces that exalt the warmth and elegance of the interior. Three slender arches provide access to a small humidor room where to taste the aroma of a good cigar, in the comfort of luxurious antique furniture, standing ashtrays, vintage photos and interesting pieces of decorative art. Continuously to the lobby, a hall of discrete dimensions provides access to the rooms, decorated with delicacy and style. Each one equiped with air-conditioning system and contemporary bathrooms. The first room has a sober and stylish furniture. Based on lobular bows and brass hinges with spherical patterns, the furniture decoration unifies the assembly composed of a double bed, two nightstands, wardrobe and dressing table with cushioned stool. The decoration is completed with discreet wall sconces and gilt bronze lamps arranged on both sides of the bed. Advanced down the narrow hall there is a second room, air-conditioned and provided with modern bathroom. In this room stands a beautiful bed with upholstered backrest, decorated with a stylized shell called Haricot or Rognon, distinctive of Louis XV style. Accompanied by this piece, two nightstands with simple lines and a dressing table. The cabinet stands by the discreet golden details and delicate decoration of the mpolished brass handles.

The lighting is resolved by small table lamps and interesting sconces of bronze and coloured glass. The third bedroom, equiped with aircontioning system and contemporary bathroom, also has a Louis XV styled double bed with upholstered backrest, and nightstands with the very design, upon which rest thin brass lamps with lanterns worked with acid and crystal tears. As a complement, a dresser and a wardrobe with elegant design, harmonizes within the group. Once reached the end of the corridor, the guest or visitor is welcomed in a spacious dining room with pieces of various origins, articulated with particular aesthetics. The eclecticism that prevails in this space is a hallmark of the interior environment of the Hotel Don Julio, a meeting place with predilection for the refined, in symphony with the ancient and the modern, arrived from many parts of the world. The main protagonist of this room is a table for eight people with leather chairs.

The decoration of this set, accompanied by tables consoles and showcase cupboard, mimics the stylistic features of the Baroque of Spanish influence with a detailed woodworking and Solomonic elements. Here, the interior decoration is completed with unique pieces as humidors, chandeliers, lamps, and even an original Singer sewing machine of US origin. All these objects decorate a space that serves as a Bar, with contemporary wooden bar where you can enjoy drinks, spirits and cocktails.
