    This place is remarkable

This place is remarkable with its period architecture and the care the hosts take of the property. It’s located on a relatively quiet street just a stone’s throw from the famous theater at the end of the block. The space is kept immaculately cleaned and they even offer daily cleaning and towel changing which was a surprise to me. Further still we were offered a full breakfast at a cost of $5/person every morning that would begin being prepared before we awoke and be ready once we did. The library was stocked with an excellent guidebook of Havana as well as a binder of the host’s recommendations on all the amenities surrounding the property. This is one of the nicest kept houses in the area and although the area around the house and the neighborhood of Miramar has seen years of neglect this house has been carefully kept. I felt safer walking around the streets of Miramar, Vedado and Havana than I do in my home country of Brazil. The people from every corner to every shop were extremely friendly and willing to help with directions or recommendations of places to visit, eat and drink. I was blown away at the hospitality of the Cubans. One thing I would have appreciated being more aware of is that although WiFi is accessible in the home, throughout all of Cuba internet is metered through cards you need to purchase for one-hour’s worth of access at a time. These are available at business centers around Miramar for $1CUC per card but they limit the amount you can buy to 3 per person and you must provide ID. I didn’t find any business centers close to the home. At hotels around Havana and Vedado they charge $5CUC – $6CUC per card but I did find some vendors in Old Havana selling them on the street and negotiated the price down to $2CUC per card, actually $10CUC for 5 cards. There are public access points outside of the house for WiFi but they are few and far between. The theater in front of the house is one of these but it’s not necessary to go there as the house provides its own WiFi connection point that allows you to utilize one of these cards for anyone connected to this access point. At the public locations you’ll need one card for everyone that wants to connect.
